Getting ElderGuard Link working
Setting up the person being monitored
Open ElderGuard Link on their Apple Watch and enter their first name and age. Allow the Health permissions when asked — without heart rate and heart rate variability the app cannot do anything useful.
Inviting family
On the monitored person's iPhone, choose This is my household, then tap Invite a caregiver and send the link however you like. When they tap it, their readings start appearing on that person's phone.
"Learning their normal"
Heart rate variability differs enormously between healthy people, so there is no useful default. The app learns the wearer's own resting range before it will judge anything against it — about 40 readings across at least a day. Falls and extreme heart rates are watched from the first minute.
Nothing is appearing
- Both people must be signed in to iCloud, with iCloud Drive on.
- The watch must have been worn — readings only arrive when it is on a wrist.
- Check the top of the dashboard: it says offline when it cannot reach iCloud.
Not a medical device
ElderGuard Link does not diagnose or treat anything and is not a substitute for emergency services. If someone needs help, call your local emergency number.
